iPhone 5 will have 4-Inch screen confirmed by Reuters. Last month we told you last rumor about the next-gen iPhone , reuters  jumped onto the train claiming that the Maeil Business Newspaper is stating Apple has decided on a bigger 4.6-inch display for the next iPhone and has already started placing orders with its suppliers.

Today Reutershas come forward today and also confirmed that the next-gen iPhone will have a 4-inch display. According to one of its sources, the next-gen iPhone screens have been put on order.

“The new iPhone screens will measure 4 inches from corner to corner…Early production of the new screens has begun at three suppliers: Korea’s LG Display Co Ltd, Sharp Corp and Japan Display Inc, a Japanese government-brokered merger combining the screen production of three companies. It is likely all three of the screen suppliers will get production orders from Apple, which could begin as soon as June. That would allow the new iPhone to go into production as soon as August…”

I think it is pretty safe to say now that Reuters and The Wall Street Journal have confirmed it, we should see a 4-inch screen at the next Keynote event. Both these companies have a great record when it comes to finding facts before the next iPhone has been released, so hopefully that record continues. It’s still a rumor, it just seems a more likely one now.

Step 2:
Open RedSn0w 0.9.11b4 and click on “Tools” -> “Custom IPSW”.Then select the previously downloaded from iOS 5.1.1 firmware.

Step 3:
Then, the corresponding custom firmware created.Then you will be returned to the “Tools” menu of redsn0w and “Pwned DFU” button.

Step 4:
Put your device into DFU mode and RedSn0w  will automatically go in DFU Pwned clock mode.

Step 5:
Close RedSn0w opens iTunes and your iPhone is detected in maintenance mode.

Step 6:
After you have the Alt key (Windows) or Shift-click (Mac) and clicking on Restore.After you choose the custom firmware created in step 3 from.

Step 7:
At the end you will see on your iPhone and your iOS 5.1.1 baseband version has not changed.This will allow you to free your iPhone with UltraSn0w Fixer patch or with the help of the Gevey SIM card from a SIM lock.

A few days ago iPhone Dev Team update its Redsn0w jailbreaking tool to Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 with some error fixes including “Restore failed”, Also last week Apple pushed out latest version of iOS 5.1.1 to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users. today we will show you How To Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.1.1 Using Redsn0w [0.9.11b4] , This guide is meant for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS users.

• Important note to iPhone unlockers: Please don’t use this guide if you want to preserve your iPhone’s baseband.

Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 only supports a tethered jailbreak, which means that you need to connect your iPhone to the computer on every reboot (except iPhone 3GS with older bootrom). pod2g is currently working on the untethered jailbreak and is expected to release a user friendly jailbreak tool shortly

You can follow these step-by-step instructions to jailbreak your iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS with the assumption that you’ve already updated your iPhone to iOS 5.1.1 (please note Settings –> General –> About –> Version should be 5.1.1):

Step 1: Download Redsn0w for Windows from this link and Redsn0w for Mac from this link and save the application in a folder named “Redsn0w” on your desktop.

Step 2: Double click the Redsn0w zip file and extract the application to the Redsn0w folder. Navigate back to the Redsn0w folder and launch the Redsn0w application.

Step 3: After launching Redsn0w, click on the Jailbreak button.

Windows 7 users should run the exe in Windows XP compatibility mode (right-click on the Redsn0w exe and select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab and select Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP). Windows XP and Windows 7 users should run Redsn0w as ‘Administrator’ (right-click on the Redsn0w exe and select ‘Run as an Administrator’).

Step 4: You will now be prompted plug your iPhone to the computer and switch it OFF. Follow the instructions and click on ‘Next‘ to move to the next screen:

Step 5: You will now need to put your iPhone into the DFU mode. Redsn0w will take you through the necessary steps:

(a) Hold the Power button on iPhone down for 3 seconds:

(b) Now simultaneously hold the Home button and keep the two buttons pressed for 10 seconds:

(c) Now release the Power button while keeping the Home button pressed until Redsn0w detects the device:

Step 6: Your iPhone should reboot now. Please remember to release the Home button.

Step 7: Redsn0w will now start preparing the jailbreak data.

Step 8: You will now be prompted to select the jailbreak options you would like. Make sure Cydia is selected and select ‘Next‘ to continue.

Step 9: You iPhone will be rebooted again and Redsn0w will now begin uploading the new RAM disk and kernel.

Step 10: You will now be notified once the jailbreaking process is complete. Click on the ‘Finish‘ button to exit the application.

Step 11: Your iPhone will reboot once again (which could take approximately 5 minutes). After it has rebooted, your iPhone on iOS 5.1.1 should be successfully jailbroken. You should find Cydia jailbreak app on your iPod touch’s home screen.

Tethered Jailbreak:

Once Redsn0w has finished jailbreaking your iPhone, you will need to boot it tethered, which means that if you need to reboot your iPhone it will be stuck on the Apple logo. All you need to do is rerun Redsn0w and this time click on Extras and then click on Just boot from the list of options and follow the on screen instructions to reboot your iPhone.

• Will it be compatible with my <any random iOS device> ?It will be compatible with any device running iOS 5.1.1 except ATV3 (right now, may change in a near future, nobody knows).Yeah, I said _any_ , which means yeah <your iOS device>.
• Why is it so slow to release now that the iPad 3,1 has been demoed ?There are 16 different devices out there to work on and to test. It takes time.
• May I be a beta tester ?No, sorry. Only really trusted people (that can be counted on one hand) could have access to the jailbreak. I don’t want any leak to happen.

Update: Pod2g has confirmed that his untethered jailbreak works perfectly on the iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1.

iPhone 4S 5.1.1 confirmed to work perfect with the upcoming jailbreak

Unfortunately, pod2g noted earlier today that the untether does not work with the iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS. Hopefully a tethered jailbreak will still work for those devices.

Currently, the untethered jailbreak has been confirmed for the iPad 3, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. Pod2g still has the iPad 2 to test

Update:
Pod2g has confirmed that his untethered jailbreak is working for the iPad 1 and iPad 2 on iOS 5.1.1.

iPad1,1 and iPad2,1 tested with iOS 5.1.1. Untethering worked.

That means the list of confirmed working devices now includes: iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPhone 4, and the iPhone 4S. Unfortunately, it was revealed earlier today that the iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS are not vulnerable to the kernel exploit used for untether. Hopefully these devices will still be able to use a tethered jailbreak.

It’s still unclear when pod2g plans to release his jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1; however, he did hint that it may be during HITB SecConf Amsterdam.

The video shows us what it would be like if Siri was used in combat situations, and it is a nice blend of comedy and cool tech. I wonder if someone will see this video and try to make it a reality!

This update involves a bunch of new redsn0w code.  We recommend sticking to the previous version 0.9.10b8b unless you’re specifically using this new feature, until all the bugs are worked out! .

Downgrading will allow you to perform an untethered jailbreak on your iPhone 4S, or iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 firmware.

Note: You must have your SHSH blobs for iOS 5.0.1 either stored locally by means of TinyUmbrella, etc., or Cydia must have your 5.0.1 blobs for this downgrade to work successfully.

First:

1: Download the latest version of RedSn0w 0.9.11b1

2: Download the latest firmware (5.1.1) for your device

3: Download iOS 5.0.1 for your device

How to Downgrade iPhone 4S / iPad 2 from 5.1.1 to 5.0.1:

Step 1: Open Redsn0w then place your device on DFU mode (Extras > Pwned DFU)

Step 2: Now you have to point Redsn0w to firmware ipsw of the iOS you will downgrade to (iOS 5.0.1) then you have to point it to latest iOS version (iOS 5.1.1). Navigate to Extras > Even more > Restore > IPSW. Now point Redsn0w to iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file, once locate it, Redsn0w will ask you for latest firmware ipsw (iOS 5.1.1

Step 3: Now you have to locate saved SHSH blobs. If you have jailbroken your device, you should find them on Cydia, and therefore you can use the Remote option. If you have saved your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella, choose local and browse your computer for your Save SHSH blobs.

Step 4: Now Redsn0w will upgrade your device to hacked version of iOS 5.1.1 then downgrade it to iOS 5.0.1. Congratulation.

Finally:

Most people will want to jailbreak their newly downgraded device. If you’re using an A5 device like the iPad 2, or iPhone 4S, you can now jailbreak using Corona-A5. You can do this directly from RedSn0w. We will have a tutorial that shows you how to jailbreak your A5 device using RedSn0w in the near future. Until then, you can always use a tool like Absinthe to jailbreak as well.

This process updates your baseband to whatever is newest.  DO NOT USE THIS METHOD IF YOU RELY ON UNOFFICIAL UNLOCKS of your iPhone4S.  Those who used the temporary SAM technique to unlock their iPhones to specific SIMs shouldn’t be affected by this baseband update.

The new feature may be stopped by Apple:

This method can be fixed by Apple with a firmware update.  It’s a (pleasant) mystery why they haven’t fixed it yet, because reverse-engineering of the restore ramdisk indicates they do know about it.  It’s possibly too niche to bother to fix right now.

Today According to latest reports, iPad Mini is set to be launched next August while the iPhone 5 will arrive a month later.

Digitimes reports that Pegatron Technology has landed orders for the next iPhone which is rumored to be launched in September.

A September release would confirm previous rumors which stated that the sixth-generation iPhone will arrive a year after the launch of the iPhone 4S that debuted in October.

The site also writes that Apple is planning to offer a mini iPad with a 7 inch screen and a screen resolution of 1,024 by 768 pixels in the month of August.

Digitimes mentions that the production of the iPad Mini has been entrusted to Foxconn.

But the rumors don’t end here as Pegatron is also said to be responsible for producing parts for another iPad sporting a 10 inch screen, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012.

In order to meet the demands from Apple, the company is said to have reduced other activities, such as the production of motherboards.

Apple is one of Pegatron’s largest customers at the moment for which the company allocates most of its resources.
