How to Jailbreak 5.0 / 5.0.1 Absinthe Windows iPhone 4S / iPad 2 :
1. Download “Absinthe” from the link suggested above or here . Once the download is complete run the application on your computer.
2. Connect your device to your Windows PC and press the “Jailbreak”.
The tool will perform all operations completely automatically, without the user having to manually enter DFU mode.
As specified by pod2g, for the first time you use the system restore backup to perform the jailbreak, which is why the iPhone will display the screen ” Restore in Progress “during the operation rather than the typical recovery mode. The device will be well prepared for the step to jailbreak.
3. After the restore, the iPhone will reboot and Absinthe will begin to send the files necessary to install the iPhone OS loader to Absinthe that will be inserted in the Home of the device. Caution Even if the iPhone will be open to all intents and purposes, is important not to use it during this process! This operation may take several minutes.
4. Finished transferring files, you can disconnect the device from your computer. Now you just have to open the ‘ Application “Absinthe” installed on your iPhone. It is a sort of loader (just as happened with Greenpois0n and Limera1n) that connects directly to the site of the Chronic Dev-Team and allows the installation of Cydia. After launching the iPhone application will load an internet page (one of the Chronic Dev-Team) and will restart after a few seconds as if it was being repaired and re-ignition has replaced the Cydia app Absinthe.
And that’s it! You have completed the process of jailbreak Cydia and now should be on your device.
In case of errors or problems with the guide, be sure to carefully follow the steps below.
Note : If, after launching “Absinthe” on IOS, appears the message ” Error connection to database estabilishing “, will not be able to complete the installation of Cydia because of an excessive load on the servers of the Chronic Dev-Team. Over the next few days (or in the next few hours) should stabilize the situation. One solution, as suggested by Planetbeing, is to enable the “VPN” from the Settings and launch the application again. Ignore any errors and wait. Installation Cydia should it be successful.

Jailbreak is graet and easy. But please, somebody can help me with unlock my 4S??? (I havent original SIM card.)
I believe there is no UNLOCK for 4S yet. There are few great teams working out there in their free time. If you are in desperate of using an iphone 4S please go ahead and buy the factory unlocked phone from Apple. Anyhow I am not a technical guy but surprising to me was ” Why the teams are not able to use the unlock phone software and find the easy way to get the unlock solution immedately / faster than working with an locked phone.

mine isnt working yesterday i downloaded it then it started to jailbreak right when absinthe was transfering the files, my computer said that there was an error and all the data you were using is gone so i tryed it again and i clicked jailbreak and it said looks like you attempted to jailbreak but failed we fix now” so it did then it said unplug ur phone i did and the same thing popped up

Ok i run absinthe .3 as administrator (win7 ult), plug in my iphone 4s
and it says it is detected, the jailbreak button changes to clickable. I
click the jailbreak button and the graph moves a very short distance
and then i get a not responding close the program error message. I run
absinthe again and it detects the phone, detects a jailbreak has been
attempted and offers to fix and return it to it’s original state. It
then returns it just fine and I’m seemingly back where I started.
So
I then tried this in a clean VMWare win7 VM nothing but itunes
installed. Same thing. Then I tried resetting the network settings to
factory and redid it again same thing, crashes.
Is there no log
file or some way to get absinthe to generate an error message so i can
determine the next step? Please help, any ideas??
I am sorry about the stupid question but I run absinthe on my PC, connect my iphone but the jailbreak button does not become clickable. The PC sees the iPhone as I have the little window popping up asking me what I want to do…

If you have a passcode set up then you should turn the passcode off and if one usb port doesn’t work, try another
Cydia Crashes for me? what should I do?
I keep getting this message: “looks like you attempted to apply this jailbreak and it failed. will try to fix now” then it says recovery completed.if you want to retry jailbreaking, unplug your device and plug it back in. I do this and it just keeps saying the same thing. any advice?

by deleting host file u can easily downgrade iphone 4s
yes i did
first download the firmware the one u actually want
got to folder option and
uncheck
hidden files and file extension
then go to “c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/host”
do not delete just cut and paste it on ur dextop
if u find host.isc file do not delete this one
then open ur itune and while holding shift key click on restore browes the firmware the one u want then downgrade ur system by restoring it
i did in this way
i phone 4s v 5.1.1
to 4s v 5.0.1
and it worked
hope it will work in urs to
