How to JAilbreak iPhone 4S / iPad 2 5.0.1 iOS Guide:
STEP 1: Backup your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and restore it using the iOS 5.0.1 or 5.0 IPSW file downloaded above.
STEP 2: Plug in your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 you want to jailbreak.
STEP 3: Now open GreenPois0n Absinthe and make sure that your device is detected then hit the jailbreak button as shown.
STEP 4: Now you’ll see “Restoring in Progress”, you should wait for few minutes. Once done, get on your iPhone and you’ll find an icon named “Absinthe”, hit it and this will open greenpois0n.com which will install Cydia on your device replacing the Absinthe icon as shown.
**NOTE: If you haven’t yet heeded the advice I gave weeks ago – before you take one step further, upgrade your firmware to iOS 5.0.1 NOW! (Unless you need an iPhone4s Unlock) Also, we don’t mean to beat you over the head with this warning, but please remember: you should not update to iOS 5.0.2 when it’s released, or you will lose your jailbreak! Maybe it’s just me who is a total noob, but what is the difference between “5.0.1 (9A405)” and ”5.0.1 (9A406)”?
Would just like to say thanks, I have applied this jailbreak using VMWare Workstation v. 7.1.3 running Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (on my Win 7 pc). Ran in to one glitch, but this was caused by using an old version of iTunes, as soon as I updated, i re-ran Absinthe and it recovered the previous jailbreak attempt and let me start over. Thanks again guys!!

What’s taking them sucha long time?
1. 5row keyboard does not seem to work. If set, either no 5th row, or no keyboard at all (Mail, Safari…)
2. Setting VPN to resolve connection error would revert several times to already available VPN adresses. Switching off the the jailbreak auto VPN and rebooting (repeated several times) resolved this.

I downloaded GreenpoisOn Absinthe 1.2.2 for Mac. It extracts automatically, but then when I click on the newly extracted Absinthe icon it says “The application Absinthe quit unexpectedly.” I then click Relaunch but the same thing happens. If anyone knows how to fix this that would be greatly appreciated.
I jailbroke on windows twice because my mom and step-dad have iphone 4s’s…. the other process isnt as hard as it seems

Successful JB iPad 2 5.01 CLI.
Some glitches before dumbing down full reset delete all to factory. After CLI JB all restored from itunes backup with Cydia operational.

JailBroke iPhone 4S on Mac with no problem. Been trying to do my iPad2, already been trying for 5 hours. I had gotten the Absinthe icon on my iPad2, but when I clicked it, it just went to the greenpoison website page, but just stayed there. It never changed to Cydia.
So I detached, re-attached my iPad, ran Absinthe on it again, this time it said it had attempted to jailbreak before and now it was fixing errors. It fixed errors and I ran jailbreak on iPad2 again. Waited 2 hours and it just stayed at about 35% complete. So I again detached my iPad, and then re-attached, it said fixing errors and trying to jailbreak again. Right now at that same 35% as last time.
The iPhone 4s went so smoothly and only took like 5 maybe 10 minutes total.

just make sure that when it says click on the absinth icon that you leave the ipad or iphone plugged in to the computer, otherwise when you click on the icon it will just hang on a black screen with the absinth pic and wont do anything else!!

The jailbreak button remains continuously grayed out. I verified the software on my phone is 5.0.1. I have updated itunes, i even installed the newest version of max osx 10.7.2. I have downloaded the absinthe program several times and still have had no luck. any advice?
