How to Unlock iPhone 4 / 3GS on 5.0.1 with Ultrasn0w 1.2.5. a few days ago we reported you that iPhone-Dev Team will release UltraSn0w 1.25 on coming Monday to unlock iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS devices, but we have good news for you , today early iPhone Dev-Team released UltraSn0w 1.25 which brings iOS 5.0.1 support to the unlock for older basebands.

How to know your iPhone’s baseband version ? Go to Settings > General > About > Modem Firmware
Required Downloads:
- Download Redsn0w 0.9.9 b9d for Mac / Windows
- Download iOS 5.0.1 ipsw for iPhone 4 / 3GS
- Download iTunes
To unlock iPhone 4, 3GS with ultrasnOw 1.2.5 on iOS 5.0.1 you have to know that :
You MUST jailbreak your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS with Redsn0w or sn0wbreeze using custom ipsw firmware to preserve your old basebands to be able to unlock your iPhone with ultrasn0w 1.2.5. If you are using Gevey SIM you can follow this guide.

How to Unlock iPhone 4, 3G 5.0.1 with Ultrasn0w 1.2.5 [Tutorial]
Step 1: Connect your iDevice with your PC via USB and open Redns0w you just downloaded above.
Step 2: Start Redsn0w, press on “Extras” > “Custom IPSW” and then point Redns0w to iOS 5.0.1 ipsw firmware that you downloaded above.
Now Redsn0w will start cooking your custom iOS 5 ipsw firmware
Step 3: Click on “Pwned DFU”
Step 4: Now make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click “Next”.
At this stage you will be presented with a screen where you will be guided on how to enter DFU mode. Quickly hold “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too. Now after few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins.
Step 5: Open iTunes then Restore your iPhone 4, 3GS to the Custom iOS 5.0.1 ipsw (the file name begins with NO_BB).
Step 6: Now Open Cydia > Manage > Sources > Edit > Add then write the following repo :

Step 7: After installing this repo, tab on search and search for ultrasnOw then install it.
Now you have unlocked iPhone 4, 3GS on 5.0.1 using ultrasn0w 1.2.5.

I have a 3GS with iOS 4.3.3 and baseband 6.15.00. Last night i was simply browsing through Cydia and in changes i saw an upgrade for ultrasn0w, i didn’t know what to do other than to click it because it said Dev Team update. Unfortunately, now my phone is locked, no service, it keeps saying invalid sim. Please tell me how do i fix this, please
Just fix my phone, u need to simple start above process and select jailbreak and check option iPAD baseband only ,and finish process. then start process gain and select just boot , in a while your iphone will be working fine…. ennjoy…
i tried that baseband thing it didn’t work for me to unlock a 3gs
Ok, i fixed my problem. For anyone who comes after me with the same issue, what i did, hope it works for u. I was unable to install the new ultrasn0w bcz Cydia kept givin me error messages about no server found etc. Research, how to fix this on youtube using iFile. It’s pretty easy. I also reset my network due to the panic. I went to SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESET > RESET NETWORK SETTINGS. You could reset all settings if u wish, Dont really know if that contributed to the fix but i see no harm done. So its a viable option. lol I actually slept on it, left it for the night, usually i bug out and go on mad hunt for fix, totally avoiding patience and end up doing things to the phone which makes it worse. I find things work better when you consult the professionals before you start to experiment. So consult DEV TEAM, u can follow them on twitter. Anyways, the next day i turned on the phone, went back into Cydia, and tried to install the ultrasn0w again, which is 1.2.5. It worked. Now i can make calls again. THANK YOU GOD and THANK YOU PATIENCE.
what about baseband 4.11.08 can it unlock with this Redsn0w 0.9.9 b9d

I have a 3GS with a 6.15.00 baseband. I updated it to 5.0.1 and did the jailbreak WITHOUT a custom firmware, dont ask me why…. When I installed ultrasnow nothing happened. Now I’m locked – “No service”. Is there something possible to unlock it? I dont have the old SSH.

iTunes won’t let me use custom IPSW… just opens op. and then i can click “Gendan” (in danish.. means restore).. tried 2x clicking the NO_BB file.. just opens up itunes.. and tells me tha ti have to connect to the internet to restore… am stuck.. what to do :S
Im having the same issue. Itunes wont let me choose the file, and opening the file from finder only opens Itunes. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.
