Jailbreak 4.2.1 Limera1n Untethered Jailbreak ? iPhone 4 3GS iPod Touch 4G 3G iPad

by on December 8, 2010

After Apple has released iOS 4.2.1, iPhone dev-team has updated Redsn0w to jailbreak all iOS devices on iOS 4.2.1, For those of you who don’t know, the new upgrades which has been done to Redsn0w in beta 4,5 and 6, based on Geohot’s Limera1n bootrom exploit which has already pwned all current iOS devices for life. but unfortunately redsn0w was tethered for (iPhone 4, 3GS (new bootrom), iPod touch 4G 3G, 2G (MC Model) and iPad). Now, Limera1n will be upgraded to be untethered jailbreak for these devices or not?

Theoretically, Limera1n can be modified to be untethered jailbreak for all iOS devices for life time, as Geohot has an iboot-level untethered exploit but it has not been announced yet, till now there’s no estimate to arrival for the limera1n unntethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1, but expect to see it soon.

Geohot’s Limera1n bootrom exploit which has already pwned all current iOS devices for life… means if you jailbreaked on ios4.1 its still broken after updating to 4.2.1???

Theres more to it..limera1n can jailbreak all idevices for life but it will be untethered only till 4.0.1. If you install it on any other iOS after 4.0.1 the jb will be tethered which means you need to connect it to redsn0w to start your idevice.

i meant connect it to a pc and run redsn0w. Wait and in a few days Comex will be releasing an untethered jb for 4.2.1. Follow @comex on twitter for updates

so what is it all about the “for life” ? does it simply means that the jailbreak is untethered?

I am pretty sure that “Pwned 4 life” means All future iOS is vulnerable to “limera1n exploit” unless Apple change their iPhone hardware.

is there an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) 4.2.1?
i keep looking at articles, but it seems like there is no untethered jailbreak for that.
does redsn0w .0.9.6b6 give an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS new bootrom 4.2.1?
is there even one out that can?
